About the tour

1. Wear a kimono and experience Japan’s traditional tea ceremony in a 300-year-old samurai residence.
2. The tea ceremony instructor will explain the proper etiquette on how to drink the tea and eat the confectionery, and after the tea preparation by the instructor, customers may also experience preparing the tea themselves.
3. This plan includes a 2-hour rental of kimono that can be worn in as fast as 3 minutes! After the tea ceremony experience, enjoy wearing Japan’s traditional garment while walking around nearby or taking pictures inside the salon until it’s time to return the kimono.
4. Learn all about the proper etiquette, the ceremony’s history and philosophy, and other information as the tea ceremony instructor explains them all in English.
5. The location is about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station. Feel free to join whether as solo participants or in groups!

Kimono Dress-up (3 min)
For kimono rental, the Miraku Kimono will be provided. It is a kimono that can be easily worn in 3 minutes. The waist part is not tightly fastened, so customers can enjoy a comfortable fit. Pregnant women may also participate, except those on their last month of pregnancy. Sizes are available for females with a height up to 170 cm and waist up to 90 cm, and for males with a height up to 185 cm.

An experienced tea ceremony instructor will give explanations in English, and proceed with tea preparation. After the tea preparation by the instructor, customers may also experience preparing the tea themselves.

Sightseeing in a Kimono
There’s plenty to see and do until it’s time to return the kimono. Enjoy wearing Japan’s traditional garment while walking around Nishi Hongan-ji Temple, Higashi Hongan-ji Temple and other places, or taking pictures inside the salon!

3. Depending on operational circumstances, certain tour dates may be cancelled, or tour operation may cease entirely.

4. In general, tea ceremony etiquette is explained in English, but if Japanese customers are also present, explanation will be in Japanese and English. Thank you for your understanding.

6. The cost of hairstyling is not included. As an option, hairstyling service may be provided (additional charges apply). Those who would like to use this service are advised to come to the shop at least 30 minutes before the specified arrival time. Plans ranging from JPY 2,000 – 4,000 are available. Please confirm the plan details on site on the day. (Please pay at the location.)
