About the tour

1. This hotel package plan includes all the transportation tickets needed for passing through the Alpine Route from Toyama Station to Omachi Onsen, as well as luggage delivery service to the hotel in Omachi Onsen.
2. Participants will receive accommodation at a hotel in Toyama City on Night 1 before passing through the Alpine Route, and at a hotel in Omachi Onsen District on Night 2 after passing through the Alpine Route. You can choose the hotel that matches your travel style.

This is an unguided package plan that includes an Alpine Route Passage ticket from Dentetsu Toyama Station to Omachi Onsen, accommodation in Toyama City and Omachi Onsen, and delivery of one piece of luggage per person from the hotel on Night 1 to the hotel on Night 2. Meals are not included for Night 1 in Toyama.
This tour is not accompanied by an interpreter-guide or tour conductor.
Up to 1 young child (0 to 5 years old) may accompany each adult participant for free under the condition that they sit on the adult’s lap. If a seat on the vehicle and bedding (bed or futon) at the accommodation location is required, please make a booking at the child rate. Also, young children exceeding the number of adults (ex: for 2 adults, 2 young children are free, 3rd young child and on require a fee) will require a separate ticket fee from Toyama. Please present your reservation confirmation sheet and passport at the front desk of the 1st night’s Toyama City hotel and check in between 14:00 and 23:00.

At check-in, participants will receive the vouchers for tickets for travel from Dentetsu Toyama Station to Tateyama Station, Tateyama Station to Kurobedaira, Kurobe Dam to Ogizawa, and Ogizawa to Omachi Onsen (total of 4), as well as the claim tag for the shipment of luggage to the hotel on the 2nd night.
Each voucher is require to use the applicable services, so be sure not to lose them.
Please be aware that documents cannot be reissued if lost or stolen.

If you plan on using the luggage delivery service, please check luggage at the hotel’s designated location by 8:30 on Day 2. Luggage can be picked up at the hotel on Night 2 after 16:00.
Please be aware that if the deposit of luggage is late, it will not reach the hotel for Night 2 on the same day.

It is possible to check in at the hotel for Night 2 by just showing your passport.

Hotel Checkout
Travel time from Toyama to Ogizawa takes about 7 to 7.5 hours. Please plan your hotel departure time with this in mind. It is recommended that participants depart from the hotel by 9:00 at the latest.

Exchange Alpine Route Passage Ticket at Toyama Chiho Railway Toyama Station
To obtain the tickets for travel from Toyama Station to Ogizawa Station, please exchange the vouchers for tickets for travel in 3 areas (Toyama Station to Tateyama Station, Tateyama Station to Kurobedaira, Kurobe Dam to Ogizawa) at the Ticket Center next to Toyama Chiho Railway Dentetsu Toyama Station. Tickets are checked upon boarding, and will be collected when disembarking, so please take care not to lose them. Lost tickets cannot be reissued. These tickets are valid for 1 day only.

Toyama Station – Tateyama Station  (65 min)
Travel to Tateyama Station via Toyama Chiho Railway
*Participants will use the local train. Using the limited express train will require a separate fee.

Head from Tateyama Station to Bijodaira via Tateyama Cable Car  (7 min)
Tateyama Station is about 1.3 km from Bijodaira, with a difference in altitude of about 500 m. The trip takes 7 minutes and provides dynamic views out the window as the scenery changes from alpine to lower level forests.

Travel from Bijodaira to Murodo via Tateyama-Kogen Bus  (50 min)
Travel to Murodo via Kogen Bus.

Free time to stroll around Murodo
Murodo is located at an altitude of 2,450 m. The popular area of Murodo features a variety of things to see. Notable among them is the Mikurigaike pond walking course which is relatively flat and takes about 1 hour. The snow corridor walk is available from April 16 to around June 20. See sheer snow walls towering 10 meters or more up close.

– The tour may be cancelled or shortened in the case that tour operation will be dangerous due to lack of visibility, snowfall, or other inclement weather factor.
Also, the tour may be suspended or shortened due to snow removal work.
– In the case of an accident, ill participant, injury due to fall, etc., or other incident, participants can receive emergency treatment, but the conducting company takes no responsibility for reparation for injury, etc., afterwards. Thank you for your understanding.
As this tour is conducted in a mountainous region, understand that medical response is not as speedy as in the city.

The Alpine Route’s Murodo is located at 2,450 m above sea level, and the weather may change drastically compared to Toyama City, so please consider this when selecting your clothing. From April to mid-May and mid-October to November, the daily high temperature is less than 5 degrees Celsius, so please bring warm winter clothing. In the warmest month of August, the temperature is around 15 degrees Celsius. Protection against the cold will be necessary. Please bring a windbreaker or other jacket to protect against wind. Due to the large difference in temperatures, a jacket that can be put on and taken off easily, and other adjustable clothing are recommended. A hat and sunglasses are also recommended as the sunlight in the highlands is harsh. Also, the weather in the mountains is unpredictable, so please bring rain gear (preferably a rain coat rather than an umbrella). Please participate in shoes which are easy to walk in.
* An approximately 2,000 m difference in altitude will be covered, which rarely may result in ringing of the ears or headaches. Also, due to the rapid change in altitude when going to the highest point of Murodo (at 2,450 m), some may experience altitude sickness. Please drink small amounts of water often to prevent altitude sickness.
* The actual height of the snow walls depends on the amount of snowfall. And, route access may be closed off due to snowfall or other weather conditions.

Head from Murodo to Daikanbo via Tateyama Tunnel Trolley Bus  (10 min)

Head from Daikanbo to Kurobedaira via Tateyama Ropeway  (7 min)
Head to Daikanbo via the Tateyama Ropeway: The Tateyama Ropeway connects Kurobedaira and Daikanbo, and offers passengers a view out the window of the large slope to the west, and the gorgeous expanse of the Ushiro-Tateyama mountain range to the east.

Kurobedaira to Kurobeko  (5 min)
Head to Kurobedaira by Kurobe Cable Car: Covering an altitude difference of 400 m, the cable car runs on a slope with maximum angle of 31 degrees. At Kurobedaira visitors can enjoy Kurobedaira Garden and the beautiful panoramic views.

Walk around Kurobe Dam
2 Ways to Enjoy Kurobe Dam:
1. First admire the gorgeous view from the observation deck.
(Water discharge from the dam can be observed from June 26 to October 15). The discharge time is between 6:00-17:30 for June 26 to July 31, 6:30-17:00 for August 1 to September 10, and 7:00-16:30 for September 11 to October 15.
2. Try the recommended Kurobe Dam Curry for lunch. (Cost – JPY 1,080)

Kanden Tunnel Trolley Bus
An electricity-powered trolley bus. The bus passes through a 6.1 km tunnel in 16 minutes to reach Akazawadake at 2,678 meters high.

5. In the case that transportation service on this tour has been suspended due to weather or transportation issue, customers must travel to Omachi Onsen on their own. (Normally, participants would return to Toyama, travel from Toyama to Nagano on the Hokuriku Shinkansen, and then travel from Nagano to Omachi Onsen by bus.) Refunds will be issued for the unused transportation. However, as this plan is a set of discounted tickets, the refunded amount will be less than the normal fare.

6. Passage through the alpine route from Toyama Station to Ogizawa Station takes about 7 hours. All methods of transportation do not have reserved seats, meaning that customers may have to wait or stand depending on congestion. Transportation runs regularly at 20 to 40-minute intervals. Taking earlier transportation is recommended on crowded days such as weekends.
