ABOUT THE TOUR

1. Visit Mt. Koya, registered on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list as “Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range.”
2. Buddha statues and mandalas greet visitors to these sacred grounds, which look down on the surrounding area from a height of approximately 900 m, and are home to many impressive halls, pagodas, and other historic buildings.
3. Don’t worry about deciphering these mystical sites on your own; the guide will provide insights and explanations about Mt. Koya and its treasures.

Go to Nankai Namba Station on foot

From Nankai Namba Station to Gokurakubashi Station (90 min)

Go to Ichinohashi Kanko Center by bus

Lunch (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine) (60 min)

Okuno-in Temple (70 min)

The highlight of Koyasan. Walk along the 2-kilometer path to the temple in a mystical atmosphere lined with hundreds of thousands of small stone pagodas.
[Remarks] There will be a lot of walking at each destination on this tour, so please wear comfortable shoes.

Danjo Garan Complex (75 min)

The Danjo Garan Complex is a sacred place representing the concept of Shingon Mikkyo Buddhism established by Kobo Daishi (Saint Kobo).

From Danjo Garan go to Koyasan Station

Go to Koyasan Station by bus

From Koyasan Station to Gokurakubashi Station

From Gokurakubashi Station go to Nankai Namba Station (90 min)

REMARKS

1. This tour uses public transportation in the Koyasan area. Seating is not guaranteed.

2. This tour involves a fair amount of walking at sightseeing locations, so please wear shoes and clothes which are comfortable to walk in.

3. The temperature at Mt. Koya is about 8 degrees Celsius lower than in Kyoto and Osaka. Please bring warm attire.

4. The order of the itinerary and the lunch venue are subject to change.

5. Shojin-ryori, or Buddhist vegetarian cuisine, is served for lunch, so we welcome vegetarian participants.

6. If the minimum number of participants (2) is not met by 5 days before the scheduled date, the tour on the date may be cancelled.
