About the Tour

1. Ride the Shinkansen, Japan’s famous bullet train, to Kyoto to experience its 1,200 years of rich history.
2. Have lunch after arriving, and then spend the afternoon visiting some of the ancient capital’s most famous places including Sanjusangen-do Temple, Heian Jingu Shrine, and Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Return to Tokyo by Shinkansen in the evening.
3. Recommended for those who do not have much time but still want to see Kyoto.

Pick-up Service  

Pick-up service is available from most major hotels in Tokyo.

09:00 –
Hamamatsucho Bus Terminal  

Head towards Tokyo Station by bus. An English-speaking attendant will guide you to your designated Shinkansen.
[Remarks] Due to traffic conditions or other reasons, public transportation may be used to reach Tokyo Station, or participants may board the Shinkansen at Shinagawa Station instead.

Nozomi Shinkansen  (140 min) 

Take the Nozomi Shinkansen to Kyoto
[Remarks] The guide does not ride on the Shinkansen with tour participants.

Kyoto Station

Lunch (Western food)

Enjoy lunch at the hotel
[Remarks] Note that the location for lunch and the lunch menu may change in summer.

Heian Jingu Shrine  (25 min)

Don’t miss the characteristic red architecture of this beautiful shrine built to celebrate the 1101 year anniversary of the founding of the city of Kyoto.
[Remarks] During the Jidai Festival on October 22, Heian Jingu Shrine is closed to the public and will be replaced in the itinerary by Chishaku-in Temple. If the Jidai Festival is postponed, we will follow suit with the itinerary change.

Sanjusangen-do Temple  (30 min)

Visit the world’s longest wooden structure, housing 1,001 life-size statues of Buddhist Kannon deities dating back to the 13th century.

Kiyomizu-dera Temple  (70 min)

The view of Kyoto from the World Heritage Site of Kiyomizu-dera is superb. The historic shopping lane that leads to the temple adds to a wonderful experience.

Nozomi Shinkansen  (140 min) 

Head to Tokyo via the Nozomi Shinkansen
[Remarks] The guide does not ride on the Shinkansen with tour participants. Drop-off service is not available for participants who disembark at stations other than Tokyo on the return trip (Shinagawa/Shin-Yokohama stations). Please inform us when booking if you would like to disembark at a station other than Tokyo Station. Also, note that changes to the Shinkansen trip length cannot be made after departure.

Tokyo Station

Participants will be taken by taxi from Tokyo Station to their hotels in Tokyo.
[Remarks] An English-speaking staff member will guide participants from arrival at Tokyo Station to the taxi, but will not ride along in the taxi.
