About the tour

1. Tenjin Matsuri is one of Japan’s Three Great Festivals. Watch the river procession, one of the festival’s main events, up close from a viewing seat right on the riverside! Participants will be guided to a seating area that is not usually open to the public. Includes 1 non-alcoholic drink and a Tenjin Matsuri guide book!
2. During the river procession, the members of the parade and the palanquins are paraded up and down Okawa River on approximately 100 boats, including a boat with the divine palanquin. Don’t miss the dazzling display of about 4,000 fireworks!
3. Enjoy walking around the venue and drop by some shops and booths selling snacks and drinks!

17:00 –
Venue
The venue opens at 17:00. Please make your own way to the reception for river procession viewing seats.
Please show your reservation confirmation sheet at the reception.
Give yourself plenty of time to arrive, as it may be crowded on the day of the festival.

Watch the River Procession
The purpose of the river procession is to show the deity how the people of the city are living and to pray for his continued protection.
Seats will be designated per block. Please take the seat on the block designated at check-in. Specific seat numbers may not be requested.
Food and refreshments will be available for purchase within the venue.
Note that assistance in other languages will not be provided.
Fireworks may be viewed from some seats. In others, the view of fireworks may be obstructed.
Simple folding chairs are provided for seats.
The festival will be held even in case of rain. Please bring rain gear as there is no roof over the seats. The fireworks may be cancelled if it is raining. Please note that in case only the fireworks are cancelled, refunds will not be provided.
19:30 –
Fireworks Display
Watch with wonder as approximately 4,000 fireworks shoot up and set the sky aglow. There’s no better way to end this fantastic festival.

Please head to your next destination on your own after the tour.
