Narita Airport

JTB staff will meet participants at the airport and assist in boarding a pre-reserved taxi.

The tour departs Hamamatsucho Bus Terminal to begin sightseeing around Tokyo.

Tokyo Tower

Get a spectacular view of Metropolitan Tokyo from the observation deck

Imperial Palace Plaza
(10 min)
Admire the view of Nijubashi Bridge and the surrounding scenery at this National Garden that was formerly a private garden of the Royal Family

Asakusa Kannon & Shopping at Nakamise
(45 min)
Of the 33 temples in Eastern Japan dedicated to the Goddess Kannon, this is the only one in the capital (No. 13 on the pilgrimage to all 33 temples). Visit this historic area which includes Nakamise-dori, the street leading to the temple.

Ueno & Akihabara (drive-by)

Enjoy a pleasant drive through Ueno, where Tokyo’s first coffee shop once stood, to Akihabara which is home to the famous Electric Town.

Depart Hamamatsucho Bus Terminal and head to Mt. Fuji by bus.
(Chuo Expressway, or Tomei Expressway).

Mt. Fuji 5th Station
(30 min)
Start the ascent up Mt. Fuji via the Fuji Subaru Line. Climb 2,300 meters (7,546 ft) above sea level for breathtaking views from above the clouds.

Lunch

Enjoy a Japanese-style lunch.

Lake Ashi Cruise
(15 min)
Go for a sightseeing cruise on Lake Ashi. The crater lake was born from a powerful volcanic eruption nearly 3,000 years ago and provides postcard views of Mt. Fuji from various angles.

Mt. Komagatake Ropeway
(50 min)
Spend a total of 50 minutes including a 7-minute cableway ride up to the peak from Hakone-en. Discover the spiritual Hakone Shrine Mototsumiya (original shrine) that nestles at the mountaintop.

From Odawara Station to Kyoto Station (There may be a transfer at Shizuoka Station or Nagoya Station)

Kyoto Station

Arrive at Hotel in Kyoto City

Participants will be taken by taxi from Kyoto Station to their hotels. An English-speaking assistant will guide participants to the taxi, but will not ride along in the taxi.

DAY 4

Depart from Hotel in Kyoto City

All transportation on the tour will be by bus.
[Remarks] In some cases participants will be picked up by taxi and taken to the bus terminal to transfer to the tour bus.

Nijo Castle
(50 min)
A UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tour the historical castle completed in 1626, which was built to provide lodging for Tokugawa Shogun and as a palladium for Kyoto Imperial Palace.

Kinkaku-ji Temple
(45 min)
Visit this World Heritage Site, also known as the Golden Pavilion. The wooden architecture is covered in thin layers of pure gold and is surrounded by a beautiful lake.

Kyoto Imperial Palace (from Mondays to Fridays)
(40 min)
Entry of international visitors generally require application in advance, but participants of this tour can enter only by going through a brief procedure.

Kitano Tenmangu Shrine (Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays)
(40 min)
Kitano Tenmangu Shrine is the substitute for Kyoto Imperial Palace on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. This shrine’s main hall is a designated national treasure and is famous for housing the God of scholarship. The shrine is especially great to see during the plum blossom and autumn leaf seasons.

Nara Park & Todai-ji Temple (Great Buddha)

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this is the symbol of the Nara Period and one of the world’s largest wooden structure. Its huge main hall and bronze Great Buddha are impressive to behold.

Kasuga Taisha Shrine
(40 min)
This Nara Period shrine is designated as a World Heritage Site. The deer of Nara Park are thought to be the shrine messengers.

Nara Nagomikan
(20 min)
The largest souvenir shop in Nara. Enjoy yourself in this spacious shop and look for the perfect souvenir.

[Japan Combination Package]
1. This tour is a combination package made up from multiple Sunrise Tours plans.
2. An English-speaking interpreter guide or English-speaking assistant will accompany each tour from the meeting point until the tour end. Please note that in general the interpreter guide/assistant varies for each individual tour.
3. Customers with late-night arrivals or departures at Kansai International Airport may need to wait at the airport for several hours as the shared taxi service will be unavailable.
4. This is a special tour for international visitors. Please understand that residents of Japan cannot make bookings for this tour.
5. Airport pick-up & drop-off is available at Haneda Airport or Itami Airport. Please indicate your preference at the time of booking.

6. If the minimum number of participants is not met by 20 days before the scheduled date, the tour on that date may be cancelled.

[Luggage Transport Service]
Large baggage such as suit cases will be transported from Hamamatsucho Bus Terminal to hotels in Kyoto by truck on Day 3. (One article of standard size luggage per customer will be transported free of charge. Any additional items will incur a fee of JPY 2,200 per article, which will need to be paid on the day.) Baggage will be delivered to Kyoto on the same day that it is sent, but the delivery time cannot be guaranteed.

[Mt. Fuji & Hakone Tour (Day 3)]
1. GPS-equipped audio guides are available in Chinese and Spanish on the bus. Please make a request when booking if you would like an audio guide. There are a limited number of audio guides available, so it may not be possible to provide one for each participant. Also, no refunds will be issued even if the audio guide is unusable due to weak signal, device issues, Wi-Fi malfunction, etc.
2. Hakone Komagatake Ropeway may be omitted from the itinerary due to heavy traffic. The tour will not be cancelled or refunded in such cases.
3. If the Fuji Subaru Line to Mt. Fuji’s 5th station is blocked due to road surface freezing or accidents, the tour will be taken to the highest elevation point possible. No alternative destinations are planned when the tour reaches beyond the 1st station.
When the tour has to turn back at the 1st station, or when the Fuji Subaru Line is completely blocked, the tour will visit Lake Kawaguchi. Please note that this alternative itinerary may be omitted from the tour depending on traffic conditions.
4. Mt. Fuji’s 5th station is typically 10 to 15 degrees Celsius colder than Tokyo. Please bring a coat and other warm clothing on tours from autumn to spring.
5. The tour will not be cancelled or refunded even if Mt. Fuji is not fully visible due to weather conditions.
6. If the Lake Ashi Cruise or Komagatake Ropeway are not running due to inclement weather or maintenance, or as a result of road or organization circumstances, they may be omitted and replaced with one or more of the following:
Hakone En Aquarium, Hakone Ropeway, Owakudani, Hakone Pirate Ship, Narukawa Art Museum, Hakone Checkpoint, Lake Kawaguchi Cruise, Lake Kawaguchi Ropeway, Itchiku Kubota Art Museum, Hakone Shrine, etc., but this will not be used as a reason to cancel the tour, and refunds will not be given for this reason. The tour will not be cancelled or refunded for such itinerary changes.
7. After sightseeing is finished, the bus may make multiple stops at hotels in the Hakone area.
8. Lunch may be a Japanese/Western style buffet in some cases.
9. The return time to Kyoto may be greatly delayed. The trip from Odawara to Kyoto may require a train transfer midway at Shizuoka or Nagoya station. If so, a staff member will assist participants in transferring. If the tour runs late due to traffic congestion, etc, and misses the scheduled train, transportation from Odawara to Kyoto will be on non-reserved seats on the Shinkansen, and participants may not be able to sit down.

[Kyoto & Nara Tour (Day 4)]
1. As Kyoto Imperial Palace is closed on the following dates, tours on these dates will visit Kitano Tenmangu Shrine instead.
(Mondays, Tuesday if Monday is a national holiday, May 14-17 for the Aoi Festival, New Year’s holidays, and whenever there is an Imperial Household event)
2. On Jan. 25, Apr. 25, Jul. 25 and Oct. 25, 2015, and on June 25, Sept. 25 and Dec. 25, 2016, Nishi Hongan-ji Temple will be visited instead of Kitano Tenmangu Shrine.
3. On Tuesdays (or Wednesday if Tuesday is a national holiday) in January, July, August, and December and over the year-end New Year’s holidays, Nijo Castle is closed. The tour will visit Ryoan-ji Temple instead.
4. During the Gion Festival (Saki Matsuri) (July 14 – 16), drop-off service to Karasuma Kyoto Hotel and Hotel Nikko Princess Kyoto will be unavailable due to traffic restrictions.
5. Please note that before entering the Kyoto Imperial Palace you will be required to fill out a form with your personal information such as your full name, sex, age, and nationality. (The form will be provided on the tour day.)
6. At Kasuga Taisha Shrine, the tour will not enter areas requiring admission.
7. Tour may not visit Nara Nagomikan if it is closed or if traffic conditions make the visit difficult.
8. Connection to the Kyoto Night Tour or Kyoto Maiko Dinner is not possible.
9. Groups of 5 or more comprised only of Japanese customers cannot enter the Kyoto Imperial Palace. If your group is applicable, please inform us at the time of booking.
