About the tour

1. This Kyushu tour supports victims of the Kumamoto earthquakes! Depart from Hakata for 3 days of sightseeing on the best route in Kyushu, covering the Yufuin, Beppu, Takachiho Gorge, and Aso areas.
2. Accommodation facilities for this tour are all located in hot spring areas! Enjoy the best of Kyushu’s renowned hot spring waters and local dining.
3. Tours departing between April and October will visit Kuju Flower Park which features beautiful seasonal flowers. Tours departing in other months will visit Kokonoe “Yume” Grand Suspension Bridge, the tallest pedestrian bridge in Japan.
4. A minimum of only 2 participants is required to run tours on Mar. 20, July 31, Oct. 23, and Dec. 18.

DAY 1

Please go to the hotel lobby by 8:50.

Hotel Okura Fukuoka

11:10 – 14:10
Yufuin  (180 min)
Walk through one of Japan’s finest hot spring towns. Yunotsubo Street, which leads to Lake Kinrin, is lined with many popular cafes, restaurants, craft shops, and more. Please eat lunch on your own here (not included).
14:45 – 15:15
Myoban Yunosato Hot Springs  (30 min)
At steamy Myoban Hot Springs, see how ‘yunohana’ bath salts are made in quaint, old-fashioned thatched roof huts.
15:25 – 15:55
Beppu Umijigoku (“Sea Hell”)  (30 min)
This is the largest of Beppu’s eight Jigoku, or ‘Hells’. The brilliant cobalt blue pond here is very beautiful.

Beppuwan Royal Hotel at Beppu Onsen
Spend a relaxing time at a hot spring resort with views of Beppu Bay. Accommodation will be in a Western-style room.
Dinner will be a Japanese-style meal or a buffet.
DAY 2
08:30 –

Depart the hotel at 8:30 after breakfast.
10:10 – 11:10
[April to October] Kuju Flower Park  (60 min)
Kuju Flower Park features gorgeous flowers and scenery of the surrounding mountains including Mt. Kuju and the five peaks of Mt. Aso in the distance. From spring to autumn, approximately 3 million flowers of 500 different types bloom at this beautiful flower park.

Lunch  (50 min)
Savor ‘dengaku,’ a type of local cuisine, for lunch in a traditional thatched roof house.
14:00 – 15:30
Takachiho Gorge  (90 min)
Eighty to hundred-meter sheer cliffs flank this gorge which continues for 7 km. Don’t miss Manai Falls, a waterfall chosen as one of the 100 best waterfalls in Japan, which cascades into the river.

Please be aware that the Takachiho Gorge boat fare is not included and must be paid separately.
17:00 –
Aso Plaza Hotel at Aso Uchinomaki Onsen
Get a great view of the five peaks of Mt. Aso from the fine view open-air bath. Accommodation will be in a Japanese-style room.
A Japanese-style meal filled with Aso specialties will be served for dinner.
DAY 3
09:00
Aso Plaza Hotel at Aso Uchinomaki Onsen
Depart the hotel at 9:00 after breakfast.
09:15 – 09:35
Daikanbo  (20 min)
This is the best place to view the Aso mountains.

The tour will only go sightseeing at Daikanbo on Day 3 if the weather is fair. Also, if the roads leading up Mount Aso are open and safely passable, Kusasenri Plain will be visited.
09:55 – 10:25
Aso Shrine  (30 min)
With 2,500 years of history, this shrine is dedicated to the development of the Aso region.
11:00 – 13:00
Aso Farm Land  (120 min)
For lunch, enjoy a buffet featuring Aso’s regional cuisine and more.
14:20 – 14:50
Kumamoto Castle Park  (30 min)
View Kumamoto Castle at a distance from Ninomaru Park.

Kumamoto Castle cannot be entered due to the recent earthquakes. Participants will view the castle at a distance from Ninomaru Park.
14:55 – 15:25
Josaien Sakura no Koji  (30 min)
Built to resemble an ancient castle town during the Edo Period, here visitors can shop for famous products of Kumamoto.
16:00 – 17:25
Kumamoto Station  (50 min)
Head to Hakata via Kyushu Shinkansen
16:50 – 18:00
Hakata Station
Tour ends after arrival.

1. If the minimum number of participants (6) is not met by 20 days before the scheduled date, the tour on that date may be cancelled.

2. For each accompanying 3 to 5 year old child, a facility use charge of JPY 3,000 must be paid directly to the guide. They will not be provided with seats on the bus or meals.

3. Kuju Flower Park will be visited for tours departing between April and October. Tours departing in other months will visit Kokonoe “Yume” Grand Suspension Bridge instead. If flowers at the park are not in good condition for viewing, Kokonoe “Yume” Grand Suspension Bridge will be visited instead, even for tours departing between April and October.

4. Please understand that vegetarian meals are not available on this tour.
